In 1993, the National Association of Television (Asociación Nacional de Televisión—ANATEL), created this rating system as a way of auto regulating and labeling television programming, as follows:

  • Infantil (children): Shows suitable for all children. Equivalent to TV-Y
  • Infantil para mayores de 7 años: Shows for ages 7 or older. Equivalent to TV-Y7
  • Infantil para mayores de 10 años: Shows for ages 10 or older. Equivalent to soft TV-PG
  • Infantil para mayores de 12 años: Shows for ages 12 or older. Equivalent to hard TV-PG and soft TV-14
  • Familiar (Family): Shows suitable for all ages, regardless of specific content. Equivalent to TV-G
  • Responsabilidad compartida (Shared responsibility): Children under 12 accompanied by an adult. Equivalent to hard TV-14
  • Adulto (Adult): For adult audiences only (ages 18 or older). Shows that contain explicit language, sex scenes, explicit situations (used after 21:00 (9 pm) local time). Equivalent to TV-MA
