Eirin G

G is a rating from the Eirin.

Movies classified under this rating are less likely to contain language inappropriate for younger viewers.

It is more lenient than the MPA's G. In some cases, movies that were designated R by the MPA due to the use of the F-word, such as Begin Again (2013) and Bombshell (2019), have been classified as G by the Eirin. There have also been cases where violent movies such as Fury (2014) and Beast (2022) have been classified G, and ones where they contained content that could easily earn them as high as an R15+, such as Wrath of Man (2021).

Its corresponding color is green.

Most Japanese movies were classified with this rating, and all hit films were also rated this way. However, since Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train (2020), which received a PG12 rating in 2020, became the biggest box-office hit in Japanese movie history, the need to stick to a G rating is disappearing.
