PEGI Gambling annotated

Gambling is a content descriptor used in PEGI 18 (formerly also found in 12 & 16). It signals that there are themes that may encourage or teach gambling in the game.

Since 2020, games containing content that encourages gambling will be confined to the PEGI 18 category. This has caused 80 Days & Overboard! to be rated PEGI 18, even though there is no simulated casino gambling content (the same game is rated USK 6 and ESRB Teen without mentioning gambling whatsoever).

Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, Super Mario 64 DS, and New Super Mario Bros. (all Virtual Console releases) received a PEGI 12 for containing gambling minigames. Specifically, these are the Game Corner minigames in the Pokémon games, the Luigi minigames in Super Mario 64 DS, and most of the Table minigames in New Super Mario Bros.

In 2020, 90 titles (5.2%) have been given the Gambling content descriptor.
