The Hong Kong television content rating system is held up by the generic code of television programs standard of the Broadcasting Ordinance (Cap.562) of December 11, 1995. The current ratings are:
- G: General. All ages allowed to view the program. Equivalent to TV-Y or TV-G.
- PG: (Parental Guidance Recommended): Programs with this rating are unsuitable for children; parental guidance is recommended for children to watch. Equivalent to TV-Y7, TV-PG or TV-14.
- M: (Mature): Programs are recommended only for mature viewers 18 years or over. Can only be broadcast between 11:30 pm and 6:00 am. Equivalent to TV-MA.
Programs that are classified as PG (Parental Guidance Recommended) should not be broadcast between 4:00 pm and 8:30 pm on any day, as this broadcast time is only suitable for Family Viewing Hour programs.
