The International Age Rating Coalition is a system that simplifies the process of obtaining game ratings by developers.

Ratings obtained through the IARC system may vary substantially from the participating rating authorities.

IARC generic ratings[]

The generic IARC ratings are 3, 7, 12, 16, and 18. This is used for ratings authorities that do not participate in the IARC. While the ratings are identical to the ones for PEGI, the calculated rating may be different.

IARC in Australia[]

If the IARC questionnaire generates an RC rating for Australia, then the product in question may not be sold there.

The IARC system may be highly flawed in Australia because of the automated system used to calculate age ratings of video games. As of February 2023, over 1,700 titles using the IARC system have received an "RC" classification under the Australian classification system. Very few of the R 18+ and RC classified games under the IARC system have actually been reviewed.
