As of 20 February 2012, the three major Portuguese broadcasters, RTP, SIC, and TVI, use symbols to give information about the program in question.[1]
Age ratings[]
- T (Todos) indicates programming aimed at all audiences. Equivalent to TV-Y, TV-G and TV-Y7
- 10AP (10 acompanhamento parental) indicates programming for spectators aged 10 and above; parents are required to supervise those aged under 10. Equivalent to TV-PG
- 12AP (12 acompanhamento parental) indicates programming for spectators aged 12 and above; parents are required to supervise those aged under 12. Equivalent to soft TV-14
- 16 indicates programming only for spectators aged 16 and above; may negatively affect the development of children and adolescents. Such programming may only be broadcast between 22:30 and 06:00. Equivalent to hard TV-14 and TV-MA
The age rating must appear for at least ten seconds once the program begins and again after the program resumes from a commercial break.
