In New Zealand, the R16 label is used and mandated by the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act of 1993 to signify that a movie is unsuitable for children under 16. Publications with this label are illegal to sell unless when the availability of that publication is restricted to those 16 years and above. No one under that age is admitted to the motion picture under any circumstance.
Examples:
- The King's Man was given an R16 label for violence, sexual references and offensive language.
- Kick-Ass 2 was also given an R16 label.
- South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut was also given an R16 label for offensive language, with the exception of Google Play, which was given an M.
List[]
- As of September 1, 2022, there are over 4,600 R16 rated titles according to IMDb. (list)
