R18+ is a rating from the Eirin.
Its corresponding color is red.
This rating was introduced in 1957 (Shōwa 32). In Japan, it is abbreviated as Adult movie (成人映画, Seijin-eiga).
Films classified with this rating make advertising activities nearly impossible, and fewer movie theaters will release them.
In addition, the screening of R18+ rated films is treated as harmful entertainment in some areas, and it is prohibited by ordinance for anyone under the age of 18 to watch them.
This applies to MPA's NC-17, 18, 18A or R in Canada, 18 in FSK, R18+ in ACB, R18 in OFLC, 19 or Limited in KMRB, R21 in IMDA, III in Hong Kong (China), and 18 in Classind.
