In New Zealand, the R rating is used to signify that a movie is only designed for a specific audience (doctors, film festivals). These are not usually restricted movies, and are often passed with a lower rating when they are released into theatres (especially for film festivals).
Trivia[]
- This is one of the few rating categories that use other factors apart from age (profession, specified persons, etc...) to restrict the access to a work, the Indian S rating would be their equivalent which is also rarely in use.
- Currently there is no restricted category available to assign for this rating in the wiki.
