The Swiss Commission for Youth Protection in Film (Schweizerische Kommission Jugendschutz im Film, Commission nationale du film et de la protection des mineurs, Commissione svizzera del film e della tutela dei giovani) is a commission protecting minors from harmful material in film. It was established in 2012.

Cinema age ratings[]

The Commission provides an age rating to a film released in Switzerland.

  • No age restriction
  • from 6 years
  • from 8 years
  • from 10 years
  • from 12 years
  • from 14 years
  • from 16 years
  • from 18 years

Children up to two years below the stipulated age rating may be admitted if supervised by an adult.

The canton of Ticino does not take part in the national process.

There is also a recommended minimum age value if different from the admission age rating, but that is not legally enforced. This is often indicated in parentheses; e.g. Spider-Man: No Way Home is 12 (14), which means the minimum age for admission is 12 and the minimum recommended age is 14.

Video age ratings[]

German-language DVDs usually have an age rating from the Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle der Filmwirtschaft. Imports from French and Italian-speaking countries often have no age recommendations.
