(1985-2009)
UC (styled as Uc, Universal children) is a formerly issued BBFC certificate given only to VHS and DVD products (through the Video Recordings Act 1984) to determine if it was "suitable for all, but especially suitable for young children to watch on their own". It was introduced, as part of an overhaul of the ratings, in 1985. It was discontinued in 2009, 24 years after the introduction of the classification. VHS and DVD works classified before 2009 may still carry this certificate.
Equivalent to TV-Y for television and EC (which is no longer in use) for video games.
