Since 2004, the age classification has been governed by the RESORTE Law. The television schedule is divided into three, plus a fourth without a fixed schedule:

  • NNA: Niños. Niñas y Adolescentes (Children and Adolescents) - It is one that is made up of programs designed especially for children of an early age.
  • TU: Todo Usuario (All User) - It is the one during which messages that can be received by all users, including children and adolescents, can be disseminated without the supervision of a person in charge, daily, from the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • SU: Supervisado (Supervised) - It is the one during which messages can be disseminated that, if received by children and adolescents, suggest the supervision of a person in charge, daily, from the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
  • A: Adulto (Adult) - It is the one during which messages that are directed exclusively to individuals over eighteen years of age may be broadcast, which should not be received by children or adolescents. In this case, a notification. Daily, from the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

The channels in Venezuela must transmit a short presentation before the transmission of the program, made by the same channel, which includes the type of program (Recreational, informative, mixed, etc.), type of production (national or independent national), elements that contains (Language, health, sex and / or violence) and finally the classification of the program (All user, supervised or adult).

Types of programs[]

  • Cultural y Educativo (Cultural and Educational): one aimed at the comprehensive training of users in the highest values of humanism, cultural diversity, as well as in the principles of the protagonist participation of the citizen in society and the State. a) Their incorporation and participation in the economic, social, political and cultural development of the Nation. b) The promotion, defense and progressive development of human rights, guarantees and duties, public health, ethics, peace and tolerance. c) The preservation, conservation, defense, improvement and maintenance of the environment to promote the sustainable development of the habitat, for its benefit and that of present and future generations. d) The development of sciences, arts, trades, professions, technologies and other manifestations of human knowledge in cooperation with the educational system. e) The strengthening of the identity, sovereignty and security of the Nation. f) Critical education to receive, search, use and select appropriately the information suitable for human development broadcast by radio and television services.
  • Informativo (Informative): when information about local, national and international people or events is disseminated in an impartial, truthful and timely manner.
  • Opinión (Opinion): aimed at making known thoughts, ideas, opinions, criteria or value judgments about people, public or private institutions, local, national and international issues or events.
  • Recreativo y/o Deportivo (Recreational or sports): aimed at recreation, entertainment and recreation for users, and does not classify as a cultural and educational, informative or opinion program.
  • Mixto (Mixed): the one that combines any of the types of programs previously listed.

  • Type A: Texts, images or sounds of common use, which can be witnessed by children and adolescents without requiring the orientation of mothers, fathers, representatives or responsible persons, and which are not classified into types B and C.
  • Type B: Texts, images or sounds that, in common use, have a coarse character.
  • Type C: Texts, images or sounds that, in their common use, have an obscene character, that constitute imprecations, that describe, represent or allude, without explicit educational purpose, to sexual organs or practices or to eschatological manifestations.

Salud (Health)[]

  • Type A: Texts, images or sounds used to disseminate information, opinion or knowledge about the prevention, treatment or eradication of the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, narcotic or psychotropic substances, as well as the compulsive practice of gambling and gambling and other behaviors addictive that can be witnessed by children and adolescents without requiring the guidance of mothers, fathers, representatives or responsible.
  • Type B: Texts, images or sounds used to disseminate information, opinion or knowledge about the prevention, treatment or eradication of the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, narcotic or psychotropic substances, as well as the compulsive practice of gambling and gambling and other behaviors addictive, which if witnessed by children and adolescents require the guidance of their mothers, fathers, representatives or responsible.

Sexo (Sex)[]

  • Type A: Texts, images or sounds used for the dissemination of information, opinion and knowledge about sexual and reproductive health, motherhood, fatherhood, promotion of breastfeeding and artistic expressions for educational purposes, which can be received by children and adolescents without the orientation of mothers, fathers, representatives or managers is required.
  • Type B: Texts, images or sounds used for the dissemination of information, opinion and knowledge about sexuality and human reproduction and artistic expressions for educational purposes, which, if received by children and adolescents, require the guidance of their mothers, fathers, representatives or responsible.
  • Type C: Implicit sexual texts, images or sounds for no educational purpose; or manifestations or approaches of an erotic nature that do not include explicit sexual acts or practices.
  • Type D: Texts, images or sounds, about nudity without educational purpose, in which the genital organs are not alluded to or shown; dramatized sexual acts or practices, in which the genitalia are not shown; explicit sexual messages; or dramatization of sexual acts or behaviors that constitute punishable acts, in accordance with the Law.
  • Type E: Texts, images or sounds about actual sexual acts or practices; non-educational nudity showing the genitalia; dramatized sexual acts or practices in which the genitalia are alluded to or displayed; real or dramatized sexual acts or practices in which the right to life, health and personal integrity is threatened or violated or human dignity is undermined; or actual sexual acts or behaviors that constitute punishable acts in accordance with the Law.

Violencia (Violence)[]

  • Type A: Texts, images or sounds used for the prevention or eradication of violence, which can be witnessed by children and adolescents without requiring the guidance of mothers, fathers, representatives or those responsible, as long as the violent act or its consequences in detail or explicit.
  • Type B: Texts, images or sounds that present dramatized violence or its consequences in a non-explicit way.
  • Type C: Texts, images or graphic descriptions used for the prevention or eradication of violence, which, if received by children or adolescents, require the guidance of their mothers, fathers, representatives or responsible persons, as long as they do not present images or detailed graphic descriptions or explicit information about the violent act or its consequences.
  • Type D: Texts, images or graphic descriptions that present real violence or its consequences, in a non-explicit way; or dramatized violence or its consequences in an explicit and non-detailed way.
  • Type E: Texts, images or graphic descriptions that present real or dramatized violence, or its consequences in an explicit and detailed way; physical, psychological or verbal violence between the people who make up a family against children and adolescents or against women; sexual violence, violence as a central theme or a resource of repeated impact; or that present, promote, advocate or incite suicide or injure their own personal integrity or personal health.
